What does 2027 mean for Human Design—and how can Projectors prepare for the changes ahead?
Human Design continues to reach new audiences as more people explore how their unique energy, decision-making processes, and natural strengths can shape the way they move through life.
In this episode of The Author Path, Michelle Vandepas, Publisher at Human Design Press and GracePoint Publishing, speaks with Evelyn Levenson, bestselling author of Becoming an Empowered Projector, about Projectors, the changing Human Design landscape, and what the transition into 2027 may mean.
Evelyn shares her perspective on the growing interest in Human Design, the significance of the 2027 transition, and why she believes Projectors have an important role to play in the future. They also discuss one of the most common misunderstandings about Projectors: the idea that they must simply sit back and wait for an invitation.
For Evelyn, empowerment means something different.
It means understanding your own design, finding your lane, becoming “findable and invitable,” and learning to trust your own process.
Human Design Is Moving From “Who Am I?” to “What’s Next?”
According to Evelyn, Human Design has expanded significantly since she first encountered it.
What began as a relatively small community has grown into a much broader conversation. She believes people are increasingly moving beyond using Human Design solely for self-understanding and healing and are beginning to ask a different question:
“Now what?”
That shift—from personal healing toward purpose, sustainability, and how we can positively affect the world—is an important theme throughout the conversation.
Evelyn describes this as a growing desire to understand not only ourselves, but also what we are here to contribute.
What Does 2027 Mean in Human Design?
One of the major topics of the conversation is the Human Design perspective on 2027.
Evelyn emphasizes that the ideas surrounding 2027 are prophecies and predictions, rather than something supported by specific tangible evidence. Within the Human Design system, she explains, there is a belief that background energy frequencies shift over long periods of time.
The transition associated with 2027 is described as a gradual change rather than a sudden event.
Evelyn explains that the shift is connected to what Human Design describes as a change in the background energies that have influenced humanity for centuries. She describes the emerging emphasis as one centered around:
- Individuality
- Sustainability
- Sovereignty
- Personal stability
- New ways of coming together in community
Rather than expecting everything to change overnight, Evelyn encourages people to recognize that large-scale changes happen gradually.
As she puts it, things can change slowly—and then, when we look back, it can suddenly seem as though everything is very different.
Projectors and the Myth of “Waiting for the Invitation”
For Projectors, one of the most important parts of the conversation is Evelyn’s explanation of invitations.
A common interpretation of Human Design is that Projectors should simply sit back and wait until someone invites them to participate.
Evelyn calls this one of the myths about Projectors.
She explains that invitations can be extremely useful to Projectors, but that waiting passively for an invitation to appear can become disempowering.
Instead, she encourages Projectors to become “findable and invitable.”
That means making it clear who you are, what you do, and how you can help—without forcing the situation.
One example she gives is:
“I’d love to help you with this if you’re interested. Just let me know.”
The invitation is still coming from the other person, but the Projector has made their interest and capabilities visible.
This creates what Evelyn describes as putting the ball in the other person’s court.
Finding Your Lane
Another central idea in Evelyn’s work is the concept of finding your lane.
She describes Human Design not as a restrictive set of rules, but as a way of understanding your natural wiring.
Your lane isn’t necessarily a limitation.
Instead, Evelyn describes it as the place where you can shine.
“My lane is where I’m brilliant.”
Understanding your own design can help you recognize where your energy works naturally rather than constantly trying to operate according to someone else’s strengths.
This is particularly important for Projectors, who may otherwise compare their energy to people with different Human Design types.
Learning Through Experimentation
Michelle and Evelyn also discuss the experience of having a third-line profile and the role of experimentation.
Evelyn reframes what many people might call mistakes.
Rather than “trial and error,” she suggests thinking about the process as “trial and learning” or “trial and growing.”
The things that don’t work can provide valuable information.
For people who are naturally experimental, discovering what doesn’t work can be just as important as discovering what does.
And Evelyn emphasizes that, regardless of someone’s specific chart, everyone experiences the full range of being human. Some energies may be more consistent because they are defined in a person’s chart, while others may be experienced through openness and conditioning.
Trusting Yourself in a Changing World
As the conversation turns back toward 2027, Evelyn offers another important message: learn to trust yourself.
She suggests that moving into a new era may involve relying less on external authorities and gurus and becoming more aware of our own internal knowing and bodily signals.
In her view, the body can act as an instrument for sensing resonance and alignment.
This doesn’t mean every person will make decisions in exactly the same way. Evelyn emphasizes that each individual’s process is different.
The larger lesson is to become more aware of your own process and learn to recognize what feels aligned for you.
Human Design as a Blueprint, Not a Restriction
One of the most useful takeaways from this conversation is the reminder that Human Design isn’t meant to become another box that tells us who we are allowed to be.
Instead, Evelyn describes it as a blueprint that can help people understand their wiring and become the most brilliant version of themselves.
There is room for experimentation.
There is room for learning.
There is room for change.
And there is room for each person’s individual path.

Michelle Vandepas: I am so excited to have Evelyn Levenson today, bestselling author of Becoming an Empowered Projector. We’re going to talk about projectors and human design. I am Michelle Vandepas, Publisher at Human Design Press and GracePoint Publishing. Welcome to the podcast, Evelyn.
Evelyn Levenson: Thank you. Delighted to be here.
Michelle: You’ve been in human design, like, forever, right?
Evelyn: I like it.
Michelle: It seems like it suddenly exploded, like human design is everywhere. Talk to me about what you’ve seen changed over the years.
Evelyn: Well, it really started, as most things do, quite small. And there were a few special teachers who branched out and started doing their own thing, Karen Parker among them.
And she was my teacher, and she has really been so instrumental in exploding people’s availability and awareness about human design, and I think people are taking it in more now, not just about themselves and healing their own wounds, but looking at, okay, what’s next?
Now, what do I do? And what’s happening around me? And how do I maximize my sustainability and my ability to affect the world in positive ways.
People’s focus is shifting. It’s less about how do I heal my own wounds, although that’s certainly part of it, but it’s okay, now what?
Michelle: Yeah, now what? I love that.
So, one of the things that those of us who’ve been in the human design world a little while know, is 2027. It’s a benchmark, different people assign different meaning to it. What does 2027 mean from your perspective?
Evelyn: Well, there are two things happening that are, of course, these are prophecies, these are predictions. There’s no, you know, specific tangible evidence for them, except for looking around and seeing, wow, things are changing.
A lot of things that we have relied on that seem stable are crumbling, they’re wobbling, they’re coming apart, and new things need to come into place to replace them. So, you know, we can really perceive that a lot of things are shifting.
And what human design says is that there are these background energy frequencies that shift every 400 years or so.
And the last shift happened in 1615.
And when you think about what happened in the last 412 years, tremendous amount of innovation and science and discovery and communication and transportation. So much has changed, and so much of that has been built on community and how we interact and connect with each other, and also what we call tribal priorities.
Like, loyalty.
And, you know, obedience, and, you know, doing the right thing, and, you know, being part of the team. And that background energy is shifting in 2027.
And it isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s something that happens gradually. These things aren’t like, boom, everything changes. So it’s been, we’ve been feeling that the effects of this change for decades.
And it will continue to evolve over decades to come, but that background energy shift will alter the energies that support what have… the structures that have been in place for all this time.
So there’s going to be a new emphasis on individuality, on sustainability, on sovereignty, and on sort of being a strong, stable individual, and then we come together in community in a new way.
Michelle: Okay, you and I are old enough to remember 1999, and we had a huge party with balloons.
Evelyn: It’s been a change.
Michelle: It’s 1 o’clock for the computers to implode and the world to shut down.
What I hear you saying is that’s not gonna happen New Year’s Eve.
Evelyn: No.
Michelle: Okay. We’re 2027 hit. Right. But also so much has changed since in the last 26 years. Right? That’s what I hear you saying.
Evelyn: Well, and that 2000 year shift was about how the computers were going to handle it. It wasn’t really a background energy shift. This is a significant planetary global effect energy shift.
And you can trace back to these energy shifts over millennia and see how we have evolved over time with the background energy shifts and how those have affected us. It’s like Karen calls it like our curriculum.
Michelle: Yeah.
Evelyn: What we learn and how we grow and develop as humanity, and prepares us then for the next evolution. But it is a gradual transition, and it’s scheduled to actually happen February 15th, but again, it’s not going to be a, oop, suddenly everything is different, because things…
Things change slowly.
Michelle: Things… things change slowly, and then you look back, and it’s like…
Evelyn: And suddenly it seems like things are very different.
Michelle: Is it that planets start aligning February 15th? Is it kind of an astrology thing?
Evelyn: It has to do with the precession of the equinoxes, which is like a 27,000 year process. So it’s just a shift in the background energies and that base of the planet.
Michelle: You’re over my pay grade with human design here, and you start, right? We’re starting to get very nuanced for anyone who’s interested. We’re getting really nuanced here, but it’s fascinating.
So, February 15th, we’ll wake up, and we’ll… just keep going as normal.
Evelyn: Exactly.
Michelle: You’re shifting, and we can all feel it shifting.
Evelyn: Exactly, exactly. People are feeling it and wondering, okay, what can I do? So many of the clients that come to me for readings are saying, okay, now I’ve kind of worked on myself. Now what can I do? What’s right?
Michelle: Right, and it’s all the same questions, you know, is there something next for me? Do I need to hunker down? Should I, like, store food? Do I need to go, you know, be in Washington and speak my mind? Like, everybody’s wondering what’s next.
Evelyn: Everyone has their own path and their own process, and I think that’s where human design is so brilliant, and it helps us to understand who am I, and what am I designed for? What’s going to be the easiest path for me that I am wired for? And let me do that.
I call it my lane. It’s like, you know, you want to kind of stay in your… find your lane and stay in your lane, and it’s not a restriction.
It’s a… wow, my lane is where I shine!
My lane is where I’m brilliant. That’s where I want to be.
Michelle: Yeah, so your first book, Becoming an Empowered Projector—
Evelyn: Empowered Projector.
Michelle: Projector, hold up the book. You got it there? Yeah, there it is. Yay!
Evelyn: Does that show? It may be a little fuzzy if I do that. That’s a little better.
Michelle: Yeah, beautiful. Best-selling book, go get it. Evelyn has two more books coming out. Any… any time, they may even be out by the time you are watching this, please go check her out on Amazon or wherever you buy books, like, amazing book.
But you are a projector, and you felt called to write a book for projectors. Why do projectors need their own book? Their own methodology.
Evelyn: I think every type needs their own information and their own structure. Projectors have a very different role from the others in life. We’re really here to guide others, guide the energy of others.
But most people don’t understand that we’re here to guide, and so they don’t lean on us or look to us for guidance.
And then we feel lost and unappreciated and sometimes often feel broken because our energy doesn’t work the way other people do.
There’s something I call projector pain that so many of us have experienced, and it…
We need, the world needs projectors to be fully empowered and step into our role so that we can help humanity. That’s what we’re here for.
And so I felt very deeply called initially to just help projectors identify their wounds, heal their wounds, and step into their full power and their full brilliance.
And soon after that book was published, I realized I really wanted to create a workbook to go deeper into the five steps that I identify in the first book, to give specific examples and mostly exercises for, okay, how do I do this? How do I become more empowered? How do I work with this step and really embody it fully?
So I knew I wanted to do that.
And then as I was working on it, I thought, well, I really want to incorporate 2027 information so that projectors are really specifically prepared for their role in the shifts that are happening in 2027, beginning in 2027.
And then the book kept morphing and morphing and growing and growing until I realized it was actually two books. It really needed to be a workbook.
And then a 2027 book. So that’s where we are now.
Michelle: For everybody, this book isn’t you buy it, you know, by February 15th or you’re done. This book is 2027, 2027 and beyond.
Evelyn: Beyond, exactly.
Michelle: So one of the things I hear from projectors all the time is, “Oh, I can’t do that, I have to wait to be invited.” Or, “I’m, like, sitting back, just waiting for my invitation.” Explain that to me.
Evelyn: Yes, thank you for that question. I call it one of the myths about projectors, and it’s not that we don’t need invitations.
Invitations are extremely useful and helpful to us. Because of the wiring of a projector, we’re not designed to make things happen easily.
It doesn’t mean we can’t, we’re just not wired for it, so it’s not as easy for us.
So someone like you, Michelle, you’re a manifesting generator, you’re wired to make things happen. Boom, that’s your lane.
You know, if I’m trying to be in your lane, I’m not going to do it as well as you do, but you’re not going to, you know, do my lane the way I do it.
And so understanding that really makes a difference.
Michelle: So if you’re not waiting for the invitation, tell me how projectors get inspired or activated.
Evelyn: Well, we get inspired all the time, and activation… recognition is really what activates us, and recognition is, an appreciation of who we are.
More than what we do.
Okay? It’s easy to get appreciated for what we do, and we can be… we can be very active. We can run circles around manifesting generators temporarily.
It’s just not sustainable for us, right?
So, but that recognition feeds us, and when we are being our brilliant self and not pushing or trying to force things, we open the space for people to recognize us and invite us into what is correct for us.
And when we’re invited into what’s correct, and we use our authority to assess, does that feel right right now?
Then that feeds us, and that feeds us energy.
Michelle: No.
Evelyn: And once we’re stepping into an invitation or an opening, there’s something I call an energetic opening. It’s like the universe inviting you.
When you step into that, you have all the energy you need and you can take all the action that you need and you can make things happen within the context of that opportunity or that invitation.
So, you know, I’m a fan of don’t sit on your hands and do nothing and wait for an invitation to fall into your lap.
It can happen. It can definitely happen. But that feels very disempowering to me.
Which is the main reason I wrote my book. It’s like, no, I want projectors to feel empowered, and that may mean going out and experimenting.
Try and see what works and what doesn’t work. You know, don’t hold back and say, oh, I can’t do anything because I haven’t been invited.
Try it and see what works and happens.
Of course, I’m a 1-3 profile, I’m a third line, so I’m experimental, but I think everyone is experimental and needs to be a little experimental, because we’re always figuring out what works for me.
You know, how far can I go? What action can I take?
And I’m a fan of sort of stacking the deck in your favor and kind of putting the ball in the other person’s court.
I call it inviting them to invite you.
Michelle: Oh, nice! I like that.
Evelyn: Like, like, well, I’d love to help you with this if you’re interested, just let me know.
Boom! Ball’s in your court, but I’ve let you know that I’m interested.
And then come back with an invitation, then I process it through my authority to see if it’s correct for me to take action on it right now.
But I’m also kind of guiding the direction and letting people know.
I call it being findable and invitable as a projector.
It’s like this is who I am and this is what I can do. If you’re interested, let me know.
Michelle: Yeah, I love the way you framed that. I hope every projector out there takes that in.
And it really takes that to heart. That was beautiful. Thank you.
You mentioned your lines. I’m a three line. Sometimes it makes me really angry because it takes me a while to figure out that didn’t work, right?
I keep going, I keep… and I’m like, oh, that was so obvious! Why did it take me six times to get this easy answer here?
But I’ve also heard it says that we all have everything in our chart. It’s just some things are highlighted.
And that’s where you’re saying we’re all experimenters. So for me, it feels really intense.
Evelyn: Right, yes, yes, for a third-line, six-line profile, the experimentation can feel really intense.
But there’s good news, there’s sort of good news and bad news about that.
The bad news is that we do a lot more of what doesn’t work than what does work in the process of figuring it out, but the good news is we learn more from what doesn’t work than from what does work.
So, it’s a process, and when we reframe it, so it’s not mistakes.
It’s like this is my learning process.
It’s not trial and error, it’s trial and learning, trial and growing, trial and experimentation.
Michelle: Right, so everybody has that, so even if they say, oh, I’m not a third line, or that’s not my design, we all have that, and I think that gives us permission, because I’ve also seen human design as being, like, a blueprint that’s only one way, and this is who I am, and this is the only way I can be in the world.
Evelyn: Right, right.
It’s not meant to be restrictive. It’s meant to be a blueprint that helps us understand our wiring and it allows us to be the most brilliant version of that that we can be.
And you’re right, we all experience all of the chart.
Whether it’s defined in our chart or open in our chart, if it’s defined, you experience it consistently.
It’s like you have your finger plugged into the socket and you’re experiencing that energy, broadcasting it out 24/7.
Where you’re open or undefined, you take in and amplify those energies.
So we’re always experiencing all of it, it’s just some of it is more consistent, some of it is less consistent.
But we… we’re human. We all experience being human.
Michelle: Right? And then we have life, on top of it.
Evelyn: Exactly, exactly.
Michelle: Inside life and inside life, and it’s our own path, so…
Evelyn: And we get conditioned through our openness, we get influenced by other people, and then we get really confused about who we are.
Michelle: Oh, right.
Michelle: Next podcast.
Evelyn: Okay.
Michelle: We don’t need to be scared or excited for 2027, we just need to be with the flow.
Evelyn: Yes, and one of the most important things to know and remember about moving into this new era is to learn to trust yourself.
Learn to trust your process for assessing what feels aligned and what doesn’t.
We’re going to be relying less on external authority and gurus, and more relying on our internal knowingness and our internal awareness.
And so, trusting yourself, trusting your process, and we all feel resonance in our body.
Her body is like her instrument.
That senses resonance and alignment with resonance or lack of alignment.
And that’s where our decision-making process usually comes from, regardless of your authority.
We usually feel it in our body in some way.
And so tuning into, how does that feel in my body?
And sometimes you need to pretend like your head is disconnected from your body and just tune into, what is my body feeling about this?
Because your mind will tangle you up.
But your body is really the sensor of resonance.
Michelle: Yeah, and… and I find for me, and I know everybody’s different in human design, but I’ll feel it in my body.
I’ll make a decision, but then I can’t actually act on it because if I do, sometimes it’s too soon for me.
I have to, like, live with it for a cycle and make sure it’s still right for me.
Evelyn: Yes, yes.
Michelle: Or the next day, right?
Evelyn: Yes, yes.
Michelle: That’s… It was confusing for me to learn it first.
Evelyn: Right.
Right, yes. And each person’s a little different.
Some people are more designed for instant awareness, and some people, they have instant awareness, but they still need time, especially as a manifesting generator.
Sometimes you have to kind of dip your foot in, or just sort of test it and see, and then course correct if it doesn’t feel right.
Even though all the lights were green, you get started and go, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, this isn’t what I thought it would be.
Michelle: Right, it’s part of that, and with me, it’s part of that third line.
So, as anyone who’s new to human design, you have, you have a website. Can people go get their chart at your website?
Evelyn: Yes, yes, you can run a free chart. I have a free report that comes with it. It’s Human Design for Success. Human Design for regular for success.com.
Michelle: Thank you, and we’ll make sure that link is up for everybody watching and listening.
Go get your chart if you’re new to human design.
If you’re a projector, please go get Evelyn’s first book if you haven’t yet, and then her next books as they come out.
And I’m so excited for 2027 and tomorrow. Right. Let’s, let’s, let’s…
Evelyn: When you view it all as opportunity, it’s not as scary.
It’s like, yes, things are changing, but things are always changing.
Like, where can we find the opportunities and the beauty and the amazement in what’s happening?
Michelle: Thank you, Evelyn.
Evelyn: Thank you.
