A murder scene. A yacht registered to an innocent man. A $50-million secret someone will kill to protect.
When Detective Inspector Alexander Quinn is called to investigate three bodies aboard a luxury schooner, the boat’s registered owner—a college professor who insists he’s never owned a boat in his life—becomes his prime suspect. Quinn is wrong. Dead wrong.
The trail leads him into a $50-million slush fund, a banker executed in his own office, and a client list packed with the state’s most untouchable names—and every person who gets too close ends up dead. Now the danger has followed Quinn home, putting his wife and young son directly in the crosshairs.
Perfect for fans of fast-paced police procedurals and small-town conspiracy thrillers, Dead on the Water delivers a twisting, high-stakes ride where no one, not even the investigators, is safe.
About the Author: Julius Del Mar, the pen name of retired physician Roger K. Howe, is an author of multiple novels whose lifelong passion for fiction writing flourished after retirement.
About the author
Julius Del Mar was born and (mostly) raised in California. His family moved up and down the West Coast, from Portland, Oregon, to the Los Angeles basin. His early passions included reading and writing fiction and drawing. These were set aside during his schooling to an MD degree, a marriage, a family, the practice of rural family medicine in Northern California, and the subsequent practice of administrative medicine. Eventually, he retired to Southern Oregon, first to a small farm near Phoenix, OR, later to Ashland, OR, and currently to Medford, OR. Here, his early passions have regained a foothold. Between his retirement in 2010 and 2018, he published ten novels on Kindle. Then he took off what he thought would be “a couple of years” to study the art of writing with the goal of improving the quality of his output. His quest lasted through the COVID pandemic. The Newcomers is his first post-pandemic work and Dead on the Water is his second; several more novels are waiting in line for attention.
Julius Del Mar is the “nom de plume” of Roger K Howe, MD, MMM. This nom de plume was adopted at the urging of his extended family when he was a pre-teenager. Julius was his maternal grandfather’s middle name, and Rio Del Mar, California, was where his maternal grandparents lived.
